treatments and therapies:
- auriculotherapy (ear acupuncture)
Auriculotherapy is the stimulation of the auricle
of the external ear for the diagnosis and treatment of health conditions
in other parts of the body. Ear acupuncture is based on the idea that
the ear is a microsystem, meaning that the entire body is represented
on the auricle (or auricula- the outer portion of the ear), and that
the entire body can be treated by stimulation of the surface of the
ear exclusively. Acupuncture points on the ear can also be stimulated
with lasers, magnets, and ear pellets.
- Bach flower therapy
A surprisingly effective, homeopatic-style therapy
of altenative medicine. Bach flower essences (remedies) comprise a therapeutic
system that uses dilutions of flower essences developed by Dr.Edward
Bach to balance physical and emotional disturbances. In the world of
flowers Dr. Bach found resonances of the conditions he found in his
patients. He believed the right essence can help to bring back the patient
to a positive, happy condition. Dr. Bach distilled the essence of certain
flowers, and choose the right ones for the state of being of a patient.
- electroacupuncture
Classic electroacupuncture is a procedure in
which pulses of weak electrical current are sent through acupuncture
needles into acupuncture points in the skin. It was first used in China
to substitute the continuous manipulation of needles during acupuncture
sessions, but it has not gained any popularity on Chinese clinics.
Another method - usually also called electroacupuncture - is transdermal
electroacupuncture, during which aucpuncture points are stimulated by
a pen-like device, by 4,5-6,5 V short microcurrent pulses. The advantage
is that this type of treatment can readily be used in case of children
or patients with "needle-phobia".
- ultrasound
In addition to its well-known diagnostic use,
ultrasound is the best form of heat treatment for soft tissue injuries.
It is used to treat joint and muscle sprains, bursitis, and tendonitis.
Ultrasound makes high frequency sound waves. The sound waves vibrate
tissues deep inside the injured area, increasing circulation, thus inducing
faster healing. Treatment is given with a sound generating device that
is moved gently in strokes or circles over the injured area. The procedure
may be performed with the device alone or combined with an appropriate
anti-inflammatory drug or gel.
- TENS
As a pain management tool or a muscle relaxant,
TENS Therapy, or Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation Therapy,
uses mild electrical impulses as an alternative to drugs. TENS Therapy
has been prescribed by doctors as a safe, reliable pain management system
for decades. TENS therapy gently stimulates nerves and blocks pain signals
before they can be received by the brain. TENS Therapy is generally
used to relieve back pain, but many types and causes of pain may benefit
from it, including arthritis.
